Trail Ride Schedule
- Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 – Rosenberg, TX - Take 59 South to Hwy 36. Make a Left on Hwy 36 and travel to the Fort Bend County Fair Grounds.
- Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 – Needville Fair Areas- Needville, TX. - From the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds travel South on Hwy 36 to Needville Fair Areas. (11 miles) Proceed to the Needville Fair Areas parking area. Saturday – 02/22/2020 – Needville Fair Grounds Children’s Activities begin 1 hour after ride arrives in campsite.
- Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020 – West Columbia, TX - From Needville Fair Grounds Areas travel south on Hwy 36 to West Columbia. Proceed to the campgrounds next to H L&P. (24 miles). (If grounds are unfavorable, possible relocation of campsite TBA)
- Monday, Feb. 24, 2020 - Brazoria County Fairgrounds- Angleton, TX - From West Columbia travel Hwy 36 and make a left onto Hwy 35. Travel Hwy 35 into Angleton cross over 288-B Business District. (12 miles) Go to S. Downing and make a right. The fairgrounds will be on your left.
- Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 - Sandy Point (Brazoria County Fairgrounds campsite TBA) - From Angleton turn right out of the Fair Grounds onto S. Downing make a left on Kibber Rd. Go to 288-B and make a right. Travel to Hwy 35. Take 35 to FM 521. Travel north FM 521 to CR 77 and make a left then make a quick right into the Tutman Property. (18 miles)
- Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 – Tutman Property - Arcola, TX - From Tutman Property travel north on CR 521 to the Fort Bend Community Center on right. Wagons can be left at staging area. (19 miles) Campsite Southwest Association Property
- Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 – SWTRA Property- Houston, TX - From Mustang Community Center (Staging Area) travel north on CR 521 to Almeda Genoa make a Right. Continue to Almeda School Road and make a right. The SWTRA property will on the left. (18 miles) (If grounds are unfavorable, possible relocation of campsite TBA)
- Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 - Memorial Park - Houston, TX (Wear White Shirt) - From SWTRA Property to Memorial Park (Staging Area) - High School for Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement. Horses are to be trailered back to campsite. Wagons can be left at staging area. (19 miles)
- Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 - Downtown Parade (Wear Green Shirt) - Staging Area High School for Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement
Rules & Regulations
All of the Rules and Regulations listed below are to be followed by everyone participating in the trail ride.
- All trail ride participants MUST ride and park with the wagon they purchased their buttons from.
- Every rider (horseback or wagon) must wear a 2019 trail ride button. Buttons must be visible and worn at all times (everyday on the trail ride, entering & exiting campsites – NO EXCEPTIONS.
- SWTRA 2019 hang tags MUST be placed on the rear view mirror of all vehicles. Any vehicle without a hang tag will not be allowed into the campsites – NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Western-style clothing must be worn on the trail ride. The idea is to look like authentic cowboys and cowgirls at all times. No tennis shoes, chukka boots or baseball caps are allowed at anytime on the ride.
- EVERYONE is responsible for his or her behavior at all times during the entire trail ride. Parents are responsible for the behavior of their children. You will be asked to leave the trail if any Official is having any problems with you or your child.
- No public intoxication or drinking of alcoholic beverages will be allowed while the trail ride is in motion. Riders not complying will be asked to leave the trail ride permanently. Local law enforcement officers will be called if necessary.
- Stallions are not permitted on the trail ride at anytime. No “Double Riding” on horseback is permitted. All riders must ride in a saddle. No bareback riding.
- No mules less than 52” are permitted.
- Horseback riders and wagon riders must not throw cans, bottles, cups, or debris of any kind in ditches, roads, pastures or on any property during the trail ride. All wagons should have a garbage container. NO LITTERING!
- All wagons must stay in line and in numerical order during the trail ride.
- No rubber tired wagons will be allowed.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind may be brought into the campsites or carried by participant during the trail ride. THIS VIOLATION WILL RESULT IN EXPULSION FROM THE TRAIL RIDE PERMANENTLY.
- No horseback riding will be allowed in campsite or rest stops. No horseplay with whips, ropes, or any other type of equipment, which may be hazardous or cause injury to livestock and trail ride personnel, will be allowed.
- Every horse must have a current health certificate and a current negative coggins test.
- All animals known to be “KICKERS” or “uncontrollable horses” must be clearly designated as such by tying a RED ribbon on their tails.
- Each wagon is responsible for a thorough cleanup of its campsite at each location. Campsites will be inspected following each departure. No nails, bottles, or foreign objects in campsite.
- Each wagon will provide a SPOTTER. Please have your spotters out early to mark your spot at the next location. **IMPORTANT**
- Only chuck wagons and the toilet facilities will be allowed to follow the trail ride procession. All other vehicles must proceed to the next campsite one hour BEFORE OR AFTER the trail ride departs. All vehicles must be out of the previous campsite by 12:00p.m.
- Any animal that dies on the trail ride will be the responsibility of the owner/rider of that animal. Its remains must be disposed of immediately.
- No 4-wheelers/ATVS are allowed in campsites.
- ***IMPORTANT*** any acts of excessive/obnoxious behavior will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the trail ride. A local law enforcement agency will be called for assistance in the removal of any violators from the trail ride.
